HOF, family reunions, back to school and earthquakes, and lots of bugs.
What a month! It started out very hot and humid. We were pleased to have Dave and Jan with us. The Plotner/Plottner Family Reunion was very nice and we celebrated Dave's birthday on that same day. It was so nice to see family that we have not seen lately (some since last year). Alex Smith blessed us with his bagpipe playing. It was such a joy to watch the little girls doing the jig while he played. Shawn camped at Lake 'O Pines and so did our relatives from another state. Some enjoyed swimming in the lake. We all cheered when 83 year old Marvin danced a jig as the bagpipes were playing. (I couldn't do that) Those who were not there, were greatly missed. Tom & Shawn did all the grilling, bingo was played, the children busted a pinata, and and lots of food. Katie's new baby girl, Kenzie, was there. She is a little doll baby. As it has been sin Aunt LaVonne died, my mom was the oldest one there.
It was also HOF week. We ran into Frank Gifford while at Taggarts. Sophie liked the hot air balloons but would not ride in one because she said it was too dangerous. After Dave and Jan left, the weather became much less like Memphis and more like Ohio. We had too much rain this year and the bugs have been a big problem.
My mom, Melanie, Heather, and I drove to New Philadelphia for Sami's baby shower. It was very nice and she got lots of great gifts. Sami is about ready to burst. That last month of pregnancy is the worst. We are looking forward to the birth of Aidan next month.
Near the end of the month, we got some bad news. Shawn is legally blind in his left eye and needs a lot of treatments. The kids went back to school and all hell broke loose when there was a big earthquake in Virginia. Then Jeff and Carol infomed us of one in Colorado near Trinidad where they live now. Of course, hurricane season has started and the month isn't even over yet.
We are trying to teach Sophia good manners. It was so cute when she said to her mom, "Thanks for pleasing." Tom has been very busy with the college students moving back to campus. Jacob is playing fall ball. Pictures will be posted later when I figure out how to get them out of our camera.

May Day 2011
Osoma Bin Laden was captured in Pakistan by USA Navy Seals in a secret mission called Geronimo. He refused to surrender and was shot and killed. It took almost 10 years to track down this terrorist leader who was instrumental in the 911 attack on the WTC in NYC. He was born in Saudi Arabia and gifted with inheirited wealth and had leadership qualities. He was a freedom fighter against the Communists who invaded Afganistan. When communism fell, he chose to use his gifts to form and lead a hate group of Muslem extremists to try and take out all of Western civilization. I watched the live broadcast from the President. It was shortly before midnight on May 1st. Many woke up to the breaking news and gathered to celebrate in various places. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the end to radical Islam's desire to rule the world. The icon of another case of abuse of power eliminated for the sake of preserving justice and freedom.

The terrible 2's
Sophe turned 2 on February 1st. She had a great day and enjoyed her Elmo birthday cake, playing with her cousins, and opening all of her gifts. I think her favorite gift was the bike (trike). She is learning to use it. Melanie made a great slide show using pictures from the past year and setting it to music using some of Sophie's favorite songs. She looked like a true princess in her pink tutu oufit. I will post some pictures later.

This may be my last post.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The first rays of the sun reaching the USA. Guess where this photo was taken.
